Healers: The deeper impact of pet therapy

About the Book
Healers: The deeper impact of pet therapy tells the story of how a big, red dog and his kind-hearted person ventured into the world of pet therapy together. What started in 2005 with a handful of teams (volunteers and their own pets) visiting a handful of sites grew into an award-winning nonprofit organization with more than 650 trained and certified teams in 24 specialized programs, providing one-on-one visits at 200 sites throughout a 4-state region.
Animal lovers will enjoy reading about the joy, comfort, and healing that these teams bring to young and old and everyone in between, as well as learning about how pet therapy is a deeply rewarding activity for the volunteers and their pets.
Reviews
“Healers is a great book that demonstrates how pets and humans heal each other. I hope that reading about these powerful experiences inspires others to consider volunteering with their own animal companions.”– Lynn Porro, PAWS for People member
“This book gives a wonderful overview of the impact pet therapy can have in a variety of different settings. Through the personal stories, the reader comes to understand that it’s not just the patients or clients who experience the benefits, but also the animals and their human partners. Our world today needs more animals and people who are out there, in our communities, spreading love, comfort, and joy everywhere they go.”
