Cassie is an English Springer Spaniel and Blue-tick Hound mix. She gets most of her markings from her English Springer Spaniel dad. However, instead of being black and white, she is black with “blue” ticking. Her mom, the blue-tick hound, has hair that is a mixture of black and white hairs. The mixed combination of those colors is called blue ticking. Her hair is short like her mother’s, and unlike her father’s long hair. Both breeds are said to be difficult to teach. However, Cassie loves to learn new things . . . and to meet new people.
She became a PAWS “pup” in November of 2011, at the age of seven years old. She has been visiting older people in an assisted-living facility located in Newark, DE, called “Gardens at White Chapel.” She enjoys her visits there. However, she also loves to play with children, and to sit with a reader and read.
Cassie, short for Cassandra, loves to run on the beach when she gets a chance, and also to walk in the woods and smell all the different animals that live there. Working in schools may be her next favorite thing.
