Annabelle and I participated in the Autism Exercise Study this summer and worked with two children. It was remarkable to see the students' progress over the course of working with the trainer and with Annabelle.
Annabelle took her job seriously, learning some complex exercises (aerobic steps, push ups, curl ups) and worked out alongside her companions. The students took pride in not only how well they were improving, but how well Annabelle was improving, encouraging her progress.
Most notable was how the students became more focused, more aware of their bodies and how their movement and behavior was affecting the dog. They were considerate and learned how she liked to be handled. This is quite a feat for a youngster with Autism! Overall, Annabelle and I had a wonderful time and made great friends. – Deanna Pedicone (University of Delaware Early Learning Center)
