In order to support the life-changing work of pet therapy, PAWS for People hosts a number of special fundraising events each year. All of these fun-filled events are open to the general public. Learn about our special events below.
Conference & Annual Meeting
This event is held in February or March each year. It is a day filled with informative workshops, a keynote address, and fabulous food. This conference shares a little bit about a lot of important topics with all attendees. Open to all who love their pets, are pet enthusiasts, or are interested in learning more about the world of pet therapy or animal health & wellness.

Doodles in Dewey
This event is held in in the last weekend of April each year. It was a new event for PAWS for People in 2022, but has a long standing tradition dating back to 2005. In 2023 over 1,000 people and 700 Doodles registered for the event which was held on Dewey Beach to share the day together. The event kicks off with a parade on Friday night on the Rehoboth Boardwalk. On Saturday, the romp begins on Dewey Beach. Dates for 2024: April 26-28! Learn More
Spring Fling
The annual Spring Fling is held in late March or April each year. This event includes a silent auction, delicious food, and fun for everyone. The next Spring Fling will be April 7, 2024 at Hockessin Memorial Hall. Learn More
Wag & Walkathon
PAWS’s biggest fundraising event of the year, the Wag & Walkathon, is a month-long cumulative marathon (26.2 miles) that is held from mid September to mid October each year.
People of all ages can get pledges and participate with their family, friends, and neighbors to support the mission of PAWS for People. You can create a team or participate as an individual.
Family-friendly fun, entertainment, food, doggie contests, and challenges run throughout the month. Pets are encouraged to participate. The 2024 Event will kick off on Thursday, September 19th and culminate on Saturday, October 19th with PAWS Furry Fall Festival. Learn more and register!
